Hollow everyone, I"m fixn to buy a 1951 cub, what are some things I should look for before a buy this tractor? It has a mower deck and a push blade. The owner said the PTO handle vibrates out of gear when you mowing. I would appreciate any tips or signs of wear I should look for. Thanks.......Okie!

Look for welds on the front end. There should be a small metal clip over the PTO lever shaped sort of like a key hole to hold it in gear.
Tires and rims will cost about as much as the tractor is worth if needed.
Over all they make a pretty good lawn mower for large yards and small garden work. Good Luck

That's probably a costly repair in itself. When the cub starts and runs without leaky radiator, oil drips and a good battery and tires, they aren't as good as a newer cut tractor. That said, I had one and it was really dependable only don't try to overwork it.

Thanks Jim, I'll look it over. It has new tires, everything appeared to be in order. The owner said that PTO lever was the only thing wrong with it, he has been using a bungy strap to hold it in place. I plan on using it to mow 2 acres. I have a different tractor that I use to brush hog 8acres with.

That because the splines that enguage dont lock good mite be just because the linkage is worn that moves the sleve.
