Super H decals

I own an early "53 Super H serial #8234 J and I am 99% sure
that the tractor came from the factory with H decals rather than
Super H decals. Yes, it has disc brakes, the C164 engine and
the ID tag is marked "SH". It also has the light bar and
swinging roller type drawbar. Has anyone else ever seen a
Super that came form the factory like this?

Only thing that comes to mind if there's reason to think it came that way. Something a dealer done, maybe damage in shipping and the dealer couldn't get the super decals or didn't bother.
IH was actively advertising the super series and I can't see them putting non super decals on a SH at that time.

I agree. It had to be something that was done at the dealer.

Betting hood damage during shipment or at the dealer. They may have just put a replacement hood from an H on the tractor that they had in stock.

I agree. With IH dealers repainting tractors to look like supers or the next model (i.e. 400's to look like 450's), I dont see them ever letting a super off the line with straight H decals. That said, who knows what actually happened. If that is the way you got it from the dealer, I think that is the way it should stay.
