856 PTO Question

Well, I pulled the PTO valve plug off the top of the pto. The top part of the valve pulled up out but was not connected to the bottom part of the valve. There appeared to be a tiny pin missing. It looks like the valve comes out the bottom. Can you remove the valve without pulling the PTO off the tractor.
 
yes. you have to remove the parts of the hitch that are in the way. pull the plug out the bottom and the bottom of the valve will fall out. if you are quick on getting the plug back in you shouldn't lose too much oil. new pin, and the whole mess goes in from the bottom, and don't forget to set the lock up pressure.
