painting rims

what paint works best on Farmall rims. Using PPG on tractor. Like aluminum color to a silver look. Want to do it myself so not interested in powder coat & such.

Hi Charles, I use Corrostop. It is awesome paint, I use it on my truck frames and implements. Very reasonably priced too. it can be sprayed or brushed. I have brushed it on and it flows out so you cant see any brush strokes. It only comes in gloss though.

Hi Charles..I use just plain 'aluminum paint from the hardware store.Brush it on.Looks good and seems to last OK.You want a Farmall 'Regular'?Call John .He has one, offered it to me,but its a little to far..And I just have too many tractors.....:(

I use the commercial coating silver from NAPA. It is a premixed acryilic enamel. They have a reducer and hardner that also goes with this paint. This paint lays on for a nice finish. Only problem it only comes in gallons but is very reasonably priced.

I sanded the rims, primered them with red primer, then sprayed Rust-O-Leum's "Hammered Aluminum". The way I paint, the hammered look, and all my runs drips and errors, it looks just like galvanizing. I cut an old license plate on the countour so it fits behind the rim, protects te rubber. Did several years ago and still looks good.

Which ever aluminum type paint you use, if you go over it with scotch bright when the paint is dry, it makes it look more like galvanized than aluminum.
