Friend has a 340 diesel that just up and quit one day. He had the pump rebuilt and has tried numerous things and just cannot get it to fire. Anyone have a thought...Thanks...Darald

The following uses general terms not specific to that engine.
First thing is are the glow plugs operating? second is the compression similar to when it ran, or does it spin easily and fast. A compression check is needed.
If it is making no wierd noises, I would pull start it for 1/2 mile to see if the pump is making juice. (assumes good clean purged filters, and an operating charge pump in the injection pump. Jim

We have tried the above, pulling will deliver a good flow to the injectors, but it will not smoke.
Ready to abandon...
