Cub Generator

How can I check out the generator on my 49 Cub without taking the hood and fuel tank off? I think IH had a poor design for the Cub in comparison with larger Farmalls

read the batt voltage with engine off. Then with engine running half throttle or so read batt volts then should be more.

This is as good as it gets. Use an analog meter (one with a needle)to check voltages. Jim

I agree the cub hood/gas tank combo is really a bad design. Many people have cut the two apart so you don't have to take the gas tank off to work on the engine. The cub I bought a while back had the hood and tank cut apart. I had to purchase a replacement to make it like original. Roger
