IH424/1501 loader hydraulic ?

'67 424 with a international 1501 loader. Loader is currently hooked into hydraulic pump run off front of crankshaft with it's own reservoir all mounted out front of radiator. The pump is not the one that originally came with loader as that one went bad and dad put another on years ago. It has way too much gpm output and operates the loader too fast thus not enough lifting power. I am wanting to put it back close to original speed and power but can't come up with any figures from caseIH parts man. Was wandering if I could plumb the loader into the tractor hydraulics and do away with the pump and reservoir out front or should I stay like it is. If I stay like it is, does anyone have any literature that specifies pump output gpm/pressure or even better yet a pump brand and # to use.

I have a 424 and have considered putting a loader on it, so I bought a piece of original IH literature off of fleabay, probably for about the same loader you have. IIRC, the literature gives pump GPM. Also, IIRC, that particular loader could be ordered with large or small ID cylinders, depending on the hydraulic system that was going to power it. My binder with the books for the tractor is at the farm, I THINK that loader brochure is with it. I will look tomorrow, and, if I find it, will post the information.

Here's a link to the loader parts catalog, but it does NOT seem to include an optional front pump, but shows the cylinder options and plumbing to use the tractor hydraulics. I have a diesel, seems to me bigger timing gear driven pump was an option on the gassers, I'm not so sure about the diesels.

Here's a link to the TRACTOR PC, IIRC, there's timing gear-driven pump options in there, as well as information (but probably NOT GPM ratings for the "stinger" pumps.

I've got a 434 which I put a loader on earlier this year. I used the standard loader for those models, I can't remember the number but they are a very basic unit. It uses the plessey pump mounted on the engine for the main hydraulics and the take off is on the hydraulic system under the seat. It's not a big pump, but it lifts everything just fine. I'm in the process of fitting power steering, which should make the whole thing a lot more useable.
Cheers

Here's what I have... doesn't include the GPM required, as I thought it might...

Unless you are running out of engine power or the pump is worn out, switching the pump is not going to give you any more lifting power. The lifting capability is going to be determined by the cylinder size and the relief valve setting.

I don't believe that the front mounted pump was Ag tractor option. When I needed parts for mine we had to look them up in the industrial line.

There are at least 2 versions of front "stinger pumps" in the ag tractor PC.
