Farmall 230

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a Farmall 230. By the serial number it is a 1957. The motor is bad, as in cracked block. I know this subject has been covered before but I did not have a tractor that needed an motor replacement at the time of reading the post. My question is what motor would be a good replacement? Like to find a C-153, anything special to look at as far as bolting up? Will post pics as soon as I get some. Thanks in advance, Darrell

There should be plenty of the C123 blocks. The 354898R1 block from the Super C's and the later Super A's. Those blocks can be rebuilt with an over bore kit to give you 133cid. No machining is needed to install the new sleeves. Hal
PS: I had a Super C with the fast hitch plow. It had plenty of power with the stock engine. Even had enough to cause wheel slippage. Hal

I believe a C-135 would also fit, but might be harder to find than a C-123. They were in the 404 and 2404... don't know what else they might have been used in. Anything from the Super C thru 240 and Super A thru 140 use the C-123, just tuned up for a little more HP as they went along. But if you use your carb, governor, etc. and the internal parts and just replace the block, you should have the 230s horsepower.
