1947 Farmall A - removing rear wheels

Need advice re:safely removing rear wheels for sandblast and paint. The front end is disassembled; wheels and steering components have been removed.
Thanks in advance !!

If you still have the rear end attached to the front end you have to be careful when you remove the rear wheels as the tractor is weighted to one side and it will tip that direction if given a chance. When I did mine to change seals I jacked up one side at a time and sat it on cement blocks. I reassembled that side before going to the other side.Probably lots of better ways to do it.

Support placed inder the mating surface of the drive housings after the pans have been removed is very effective in several ways.
It is wide enough to prevent tipping.
It is sturdy.
If bolts are put into the housing with the pan off, the bolt heads will provide a protection for the surface.
DO NOT. use concrete blocks.
They are good only if the full upper and lower surfaces are in force contact with the floor or lifted object, They shatter and near explode with point loading. It is just not worth the risk. (I lost a friend to concrete blocks)

I use a couple of sizes of jack stands and never use concrete blocks or wood as the main support. I do sometimes use 4" wooden blocks under the jack stand to get more height. Take the rim and tire off first. The cast center I hook a chain to a cherry picker because it weighs more than I can handle. I once had my Super A completely disassembled, nothing but a "neat" pile of parts, doubt if I do that again.
