I have broke several motors loose by using penatrating oils and force,I want to try a different approach.I want to let this motor soak with aceatone and atf and use less force, will the acid hurt the sleeves,I would like to save the sleeves if possible

There is no acid in either product acetone is thinner similar to lacquer thinner and of course ATF is automatic tran fluid, so go for it I use it all the time to clean carbs and other parts works very good.

James, I had let one sit for 2 month and I could not get it loose. Actetone and ATF 50/50 ended up pushing the sleeve out and split the sleeve to save the rod and piston. When I do cocktail never went past top ring. I think the soaking is good but you need to Tap the piston each day to get the fluid to work it"s way in! If it is a engine that ran 6 month ago than mabe you can let it soak and get her to free without force.

When I did a rebuild on an engine I had I sed Gibbs. I let it sit for a week and on the 3 day it started to move by the 6 day I had the pistion out. Each day I would hit a wood block on top of the piston to check for movement. After the 2nd or 3rd day I had to start adding more fluid each day
