Bush hogging away on this nice day and the
pto stops turning. Sat there for a few
seconds and then it started turning again.
The Bush hog is turning freely. It"s weird
the pto will work fine, stop for sometimes
a minute and then start again. There
aren"t any weird noises and its got plenty
of oil in it. Any ideas?

Put in 5 gallons over full. It hurts nothing and can make it work correctly. If not it was cheap and nor wasted. Jim

I would second that - overfill. What's the rest of the story - where were you hogging away? My neighbor called because his Allis died hogging. I got there and he was on the ditch side with the tank outlet uphill and a quarter tank of diesel. Amazing, we poured diesel in it and it fired up.

Point being; if you were on a hill you may have sucked air with a bad seal in there. Over fill it and it should help. Oh, and pray that's it the whole time you are holding that 5 gallon bucket up there.

Probably a loose PTO pick up and it is flooping around and he is on hills. When going down hill the PTo quiets when on the flats or going up hill it works fine FOR now . BUT at some point he will get to install new clutches and disc. Thne he can fix the loose pickup and a new seal and that seal leaves a lot to be desired .

Thank you gentlemen. This makes perfect sense as I was going down hill. I'll throw another 5 gallon in there.

I'll probably end up going through it soon anyways the rear main seal is dripping a little.
