FARMALL M RIM

Ran into an issue today with my M that maybe someone can help with.

My rear rims are rusted out and i bought 11" replacements from Restoration Supply. Had them drop shipped to the local tire shop for mounting and picked them up today. Except they do not fit my hub.

The original drop center was about 3" wide and the new rims are about 4 1/2" which is to wide for the clamps on the hub. Called the seller and they assure me that these are THE only rims available for Farmalls. Has anyone else seen this problem? 1951 Farmall M.

Thanks,
Andy

I think they sent 'double bevel' instead of the correct 'drop canter'.Doublebevel are correct for 400 and newer.

Do you have any more specifics on this rim style? The seller is insistent that this is the correct rim for my machine.

Sounds like you have big trouble unless the company will make up the rims and shipping. Look at other companies selling rims with the size listed and they say about 3 inches across the mounting for the DD rims for a Farmall M.

I and some of my budds have had problems with iteams we bought from Restoration Supply. So I try not to us them any more. oldiron29

Drop center has a3" wide 'trough' in it.That is the old one you took off. Double bevel will not have this ;trough'.It will have two small Vs 4" apart instead. Most tractors since the early 50s use the double bevel.

Can you post some pictures so we "maybe" could help ID the rims that you received.
I'm sure you have a few $ tied up in rims that don't fit.

Here are photos of my original rim and the one that is supposed to replace it. Also one showing how wide it is on my hub, yes, i know the clamp is on backwards in the photo.

If you do not use this tractor for heavy work, you might try buying longer Grade 5 or 8 bolts and putting bushings and jam nuts on the bolt to make up for the extra length needed. Otherwise you may need to arm wrestle with the seller to get any satisfaction from them.
Good Luck

Farmalls started using the double beveled rims when they went to the 8 spoke cast centers about the same time they came out with the 50 series 4 cylinder tractors.......350 and 450.
