H pressurized / non - pressurized radiator?

I am beginning restoration of my granddads 49' H. Dad tells me stories of planting by using the tab of the radiator cap (pressurized) lined up with the planter marker. the tractor sometime over the past years was changed to a non-pressurized radiator.

What are the advantages and dis-advantages of both? Can I still get a pressurized radiator?

I of coarse want to restore back to original, but have concerns and questions.

thanks

Pressurized cooling system allows a higher temp without boiling. My 1942 H has the original non-pressurized system, but I think later ones were pressurized. I don't know when the switch was made.

Do they sell pressurized radiators? how can you tell if a new radiator is pressurized / non -pressurized?

I know by looking at the caps, but what about new ones? I cannot find many suppliers that say on their websites.

New pressurized radiators are readily available from numerous sources. But be careful what you get, I have heard the new ones from China don't fit very well.

Probably all you get now are pressurized. IH sold pressurized ones to replace the non pressurized at one time. On IH radiators the non pressurized and the fuel tank have the same size opening. Pressurized is a smaller fill opening and used a different temp gage also.
