Had an idea to stop the fraying of tank trapping on F series

So, I measured and cut the cotton web strapping for around the gas tank on the F-30 tonight. I bought a large roll of it off Gordon Rice a few years back.

Anyway, the ends fray a bit, as I had used it on my F-12 when I did the tank. Well, it dawned on me, that I have some of the rubber base coating (Plasti-Dip) to put soft grips on pliers, etc. I have it in white, so I thought I would dip the ends of the strapping into it. Just did the last 1/2" - 3/4" of it. It is currently drying. Should keep the ends from fraying, it is white, and should be thin enough not to be "in the way"

Thought I would share. I tried to get a picture of it, but the dang camera wouldn't focus right. will try again tomorrow with a different camera.

Should work. Similar thing, when my shoe laces are
too long, I cut them and then apply super glue to the
cut to prevent fraying.

Regular latex paint in whatever color you have
hanging around will work too. Also reinforces and
more or less waterproofs your pant legs.

Heated the ends up with one of those propane candle lighters and pressed it together, wear a leather glove. Don't let your wife see you using it for that. Used to that with water ski ropes all the time. Works great.

Rick, if it is nylon, that works well. However, the strap stock I bought from Rice Equipment is Cotton. I have also heard of using paint as well......which I was going to do, then I remembered the Plasti-dip.
