Farmall 656 Shift Linkage Issue - Info. Needed??

I was using my 1967 Farmall 656 on the hay baler last Thursday and had an issue when trying to change gears. It felt like it was stuck in a high gear or maybe in two different gears. Let it set and pulled the baler away and hooked to another tractor to finish baling. A retired neighborhood IH tractor mechanic stopped by this morning and freed the linkage with a small pry bar behind the battery cover. He indicated it was a "weak link" on the 656's and thought that IH came out with a "fix kit" to resolve this problem. My 656 TC-114 Parts Catalog (9/1966 print date) makes no reference to such a "kit". Is anyone familiar with this kit and where might one be obtained? First time this has ever happened since I have owned this tractor? Thanks for any information or assistance in this matter, Hal.

There are/were 2 kits IH offered for this. The Farmall 656 used kit # 534131R1 and the International 656 used kit #534130R91. IH changed the shifter cross shaft.

The shifter cross shaft (connects to the handle) was changed from having round drilled holes with round pins (press fit in), to round drilled holes with SQUARE pins press fit in.

The other problematic part I find is the 2 dividers, (404942R1). These wear and then tip/bind.

Thanks Ken for your response to this issue. Is the kit for the Farmall model still available from CaseIH and if so what would be the price and does it contain everything (including installation hardware items) needed to update my 656? Is there a service bulletin available with detailed instructions on installing the kit? My email is open if you care to respond in that manner; thanks again for the info, Hal.
