I have a beautiful old cub that I have neglected for several years. She has been covered outside but has not been started.
I would like advice on what I should do before trying to start it up. I have a new battery and I will put in new gas of course. Looking for any other recomendations. Thanks

Thanks Matt ! I will try and figure that out .... anything else ? Don't hesitate to tell me the obvious as I know nothing !!

first thing I would check before engaging the starter is to make sure engine is not stuck. with ignition off,If you have a crank try turning it by hand. If not, you can jack up one rear wheel, put in 3rd gear and rock the wheel. Watch for fan to turn. One does not want to bend any valve train parts. If engine is not stuck, fresh gas running all the way thru and it should start.

Thanks Bill ... that is the kind of thing that I was worried about .... I hope I can post some good news after the long weekend .... or I will be asking you what to do if it is stuck !!

remove spark plugs, put about 1 tsp oil in each cylinder. turn engine over a few times. replace plugs and try to start. will smoke for a bit.
