my back is killin me.. think im gonna go look at an H? do they have a springer seat? im mowin 14 acres w/ the A,,, and did sum in 2nd gear,, my back is hit.. probly try and make a different seat or sumthn.. I've got a cpl old seats,, look like sumthn out of a bass fishin boat,,, they fold down,,, maybe I can rig sumthn.. anyone? thanx,, Steve

The factory seat on an H would be very little of an improvement, and that is why MOST Hs got the Monroe seat installed. Different as night and day. You might even be able to find a Monroe seat to fit your A.

My A has a Monroe seat from an H on it. Previous owner did it. It is super slick and I can ride it all day mowing. Surprisingly, it fits well and there is enough leg room for me - I am 6'4". It didn't need any new holes drilled that I can see. The front uses longer bolts in the petal mountings. Not sure what the back looks like on a regular A, but this looks pretty good. Must have been easy as the previous owner wasn't much of a fabricator. You should have seen the belt driven hydraulics that I took off.

A's are rough riding because of the 24" tires. We raked hay with the A for many years, & a hay field is just rough. It even had the good seat.

I have an aftermarket seat frame that would be just the ticket for you. Has a shock and a spring and even a back on it. It sits on a B parts tractor I have. Does need the seat and back rest replaced but other wise appears to be in good shape

There are several aftermarket seats available. I'm not convinced that they are all that much more comfortable than the original.

But it is your tractor and you should make it suit you.

I suggest that you save the original seat and support brackets. The brackets hold the tractor's serial number, and having the original seat, parts & serial number plate will substantially add value and may increase what many people would be willing to pay for the tractor.

I use one of those jell seat pads for cars on my Super A. It makes a world of difference.
