A simple tool to prop up your tractor

Saw this display at RPRU, and it got my attention. Seems very easy and simple to fabricate. Layout, saw, drill, weld, bam!! done. Apparently IH made them at one time.

Looks ok for repairs. Not suitable for the restorations I do because I remove and reapply all the paint, including the axle brackets it attaches to. I have large jack stands under the front and rear, plus a splitting stand I had made from someone's plans on this site. Yours is ok for removing wheels, etc, but my jack stands are heavier and can be used on any tractor. This is not a complaint, just an opinion.

Thanks for sharing! If you are still at RPRU - or someone else at the show - would you be able to take some more pictures? A view from the front; as I'm wondering if it is square stock (it appears that's what I'm seeing for the front of the axle housing) dimensions and diameters and thicknesses of materials too.

Also, is their a bulletin number or date of the printed display? Something to get a reproduction of as I'm guessing the Wisc. Histerical  Society IH collection, in the People's Republic of Madison, Wisc. could be a source for printing.

I had never seen nor heard of that jack stand either. Cool item and thanks again for sharing Patrick. Folks all over the country are gonna be in their shops now...."yes dear, there really is a benefit for you from this project, just you wait and see" :D

The stand itself fastens in the same manner to the same IH parts that you would normally attach your drawbar angles too. So all that is already done for you, and those parts are left on the rear axle housing, assuming of course that you are running a normal drawbar.

I didn't take anymore pics or measurements. The flat bar with slotted holes looks to be about 3/8"x4". I would guess the outer pipes to be about 1 1/2" sch 40, no less, and are stitch welded to the FB. I would guess the cross braces to be at least 3/8"x2". Build it strong, don't skimp on material. Better safe than sorry.
