IH 444 Tractor Controls

Howdy, I have recently taken over the maintenance and care of my late Grandparents farm. Along with this there is a IH 444 Loader Tractor.

I have used the loader quite a bit so I have a good handle on that, and I manage to operate the pto for the brush hog, but cant help but notice that there are several levers, knobs, switches, ect that I have no Idea of there purpose or use.

Would someone with an operators manual for one of these tractors please post or send me a picture of the controls pages from it?

My email is [email protected]

Thank you for your time.

This site has the manual. Top of list left side of page. Though if rare or unavailable or emergency, someone might copy one for you, getting one is much better, as there are very important factors in the book. Jim

Having the manual in hand is a good idea.

But considering that you know what pretty much all the functions are, I don't know how there can be several *MORE* levers that you don't know what they do.

If you can start the tractor, you know where the key switch and starter buttons are.
If you can make the tractor go forwards and back in more than one speed, you know where the gearshift is.
If you can operate the loader, you know where the hydraulic levers are.
If you can make the brush hog start and stop, you know where the PTO lever is.
If you can lift and lower the brush hog, you know where the 3pt hitch lever is.

I think all that's left is the cigarette lighter and the headlights!

maybe a brake lock, choke, Seat adjustment, Light switch, Dip stick, Hitch tilt lift/lower, Draft control?? Jim

For example, on the dash panel, lower right side is a selector switch with 3 positions, each labled with a single letter. I dont know what this does.

I will be buying a manual for this soon, along with one for the Case Diesel Comfort King, I am just trying to maximize its potential in the meantime.

A major issue with it is someone in the past seems to have made it gravity feed for the fuel and it wont run at over 1/2 throttle. I was kind of hoping there was a high/low range for the gears, I still couldnt get the pto into the range on the meter but it would help the speed to cutting speed ratio.

Thanks fer the answers guys.

The selector switch (rotary) is the light switch. ODB Off, Dim Bright. If it does nothing the light circuit, fuse, or bulbs might be bad. Jim
