350 Utility Rear Hub Play

I have a 350 Utility and while changing the left rear tire I noticed that the hub has about 3/4" play on the spline. It looks like the hub is held from sliding off by one large bolt and washer. the bolt is tight to the spline but the hub moves on the spline. didn"t feel any other play, just the hub sliding on the spline. The wheels are different from a 350 or H non-utility which are more like my super M with a hub clamp. This one has solid 24" utility wheels on it and i don"t see a hub clamp just the one horizontal bolt that keeps the hub from sliding off.

In/out play, or round-n-round play?

If in/out, then the bolt is bottoming out before it's tight. Yes, it's tight in the threads but not tight against the hubs.

If the hub is rotating slightly on the splines, then the splines are worn. Had the same problem on a W400. Made up a wrap for the splines out of roof flashing, nice tight fit on the splines. Wheels are nice and tight now.

Better check the other one. It's probably the same.

jeffl some of these utility & industrial tractors had this setup there should be a snap ring on the axle behind the hub if it is just out of the groove flip it over it could be broken or gone it must be in the groove pull the wheel before you pull the hub in friendship gene bradley
