Where to get felt packing

I'm working on a F-20 and I need to replace basically all of the felt packing in the tractor. Right now I'm focusing on the transmission and final drive. There's about 6-8 felt packing pieces I need to replace. Can I buy a roll of it somewhere???

I went through this with my regular, pretty much the same as the F-20. I'm guessing you are looking for the compression packing behind the nuts where the shafts penetrate the housing. Take a look at McMaster-Carr. They have just about any selection you need and will ship less than a spool of it. As I remember, Large shafts, like the pulley, are 3/8 cross section but the smaller shafts, are 1/4.

McM<aster has a rep of being a bit pricy BUT I get next day service out of them on small stuff like this and they have it.

Check a commercial plumbing facility in your area. Braided graphite impregnated packing is used to pack valve stems of big valves.

Also, don't tighten it down tight. Too tight, and it'll create friction and hurt your shaft. A few drips of oil weepign thru keeps it lubricated.
