IH 2150 painting suggestions

I'm getting ready to paint my Farmall 504 this week. Does anyone have any suggestions for when spraying the 2150 to get a nice finish on the sheetmetal? I've used Dupont Centari, Montana and Valspar restoration series in the past. I plan to use summit racing epoxy primer underneath it and a surfacer underneath that on the sheetmetal. I'm actually still waiting to get the sheetmetal back from getting sandblasted...

The epoxy goes on before the surfacer. 2 part epoxy primer adheres to the metal better than surfacers or primer surfacers. Nothing special about 2150, Centari is a lot better.

The case ih paint is a modified aklyd enamel. Its pretty close to the old dupont dulux enamel from the thrilling days of yesteryear. It is a slow dry compared to the high performance urethanes used today. If applied to heavy, or to cold, it loves to run. Big runs. For your first coat, apply a tack coat. Just enough to get color on. It will be kind of transparent. Let it tack up, put a second medium coat on to get a pretty good color and complete coverage. Let it tack good, and for the third coat , a nice wet coat with good gloss. Too heavy, it runs, to light, dull shine.
