B275 pto clutch shifter

The pto came disengaged during bush hogging. I have removed the pto shifter and everything looks clean and workable inside. However, I"m having a difficult time aligning the pto shifter into the collar when trying to reassemble. Any suggestions or tricks? I"m out of ideas. Also, what may have caused it to slip out while bush hogging? All help and ideas are appreciated.

Hi Scott, I have never had one apart. If you have not already tried this, I suggest you use a long screw driver to move the collar into the engaged position then when you insert the lever assembly the stop on the lever should go into the hole in the diff casting and the pin should go into the slot in the collar.
