This is my fifth project. A 1941 Farmall H. I previously did a "29 Regular, a 51 M and 2 SC Cases "48 and "53. I think it is my best outcome. We"ll see how the shows and the rides go this summer. After it was all back together and sat a few days I noticed a leak in one of the seals. I think I am just gonna let it leak for now. I bought the tractor in Earlam Iowa in November of 2012 for about $100.00 over scap price. I worked on it over the winter. I think I have about 3 or 4 times more money in it than what its worth, but I enjoy working on them so much, that has to be worth something.

Very nice.

And yes, it's definitely all about the enjoyment and relaxation. You'll never recover the money, but who cares.

Other folks pizz it away on golf and booze, we do tractor.

Looks very nice. I too, call it my hobby fixing up H's. Alway's more time and money involved for what they are worth, but keeps me occupied during the winter.

The sheet metal was sandblasted, dents pounded out and smoothed with a power grinder, the cast portions were cleaned with a HotZee powerwasher and rough spots wire brushed. The paint is OMNI brand number 71310 Red.

(quoted from post at 18:43:24 05/08/13) What kind of oil filter was on it? Never seen one like that. Looked sort of cool.

Same thoughts here. I may have had to keep that oil filter. It would set your H apart from the other 500,000. The "suicide seat" would do that as well. That is what my neighbor calls the Knodler seat on his M. It is bad, it tries to throw you off the back all the time. From what I read on the forum he is not the only one with that complaint.

Re: the oil filter. I have no clue what that is off of. I could not find a replacement filter on line, or at any retail place, so I gave up and replaced it with original equipment. I even put pictures of it on this forum looking for someone who knew what it was. Best guess is it came off of a combine.

Re: the seat. The shock inside the spring was worn out. The only one I could find to replace it was on ebay. When it came it was painted yellow and came in a John Deere box.

I had a IH kb 2 pickup a couple years ago. That oil filter canister looks like the same one that was on my truck.

How did you do the paint job? blast/prime & paint? or blast, take it apart & fix, prime, reassemble halfway, then paint.

I took it apart, blasted the sheet metal and other parts, primed and painted them. Then hot zee power washed the frame, wheels, and engine. Wire brushed the rough spots, primed and painted it. Then reassembled and did touch up painting after all back together.
The picture shows the painted parts, waiting for the frame, wheels and engine to be completed.
