Super H clutch

I am going to look at a Suoer H that needs a new clutch. It looks like the clutch in a H can be replaced without spliting the tractor. Does anyone know if it can also be replaced in a Super H without spliting? Looks like the clutch is a bit bigger in the Super H.

The clutch and pressure plate can be replaced without splitting the tractor.

Some people will tell you that you must also resurface the flywheel, which does require a split... That's your call.

I've done this in a straight H and it works OK. I've also tried to do it in a Super M and couldn't, could only get the clutch disc out, not the pressure plate. I thought the Super H was the same way as the Super M but if not, that's great because I have a Super H that's getting to need a new clutch and I thought I was going to have to split it. Sam

Thanks for the replies. I split my Ford 8n to replace the clutch recently. It was my first time doing a split and I was surprised how easy it was after I got the courage up to do it. I really don't have the space right now to do a split on the Farmall so I am glad to hear it probably won't be necessary. Hopefully the rest of the tractor is as nice as it looks in the pictures.

Only the H can be done without splitting, and only before a certain serial number at that. They had a 10 inch clutch, while the later models and the Super H's had 10 1/2 inch clutches, which cannot be done without splitting the tractor.

I looked it up, and the change over was at FBH391358, prior to that serial number they have the 10 inch clutch, at that one and later had the 10 1/2 inch clutch, and could no longer be changed without splitting.

Thank you CoopertownBob. I appreciate a definite answer on this. I have not had time to go look at the tractor yet. Probably going to pass on this one since I really don't have the space to split one right now. I am glad to find this out before getting it and being forced to do the clutch in my garage.

The tractor has live hydraulics so I was thinking it would be a nice improvement over my Ford 8N. I may end up convincing myself I really need this tractor anyways.

I'm not going to come right out and say it CAN be done, but I'd sure give it a try. I've got a neighbor who claims to have changed out the disk and the pressure plate on a Super M, from below the tractor, without splitting.
