H lift all

I have single acting loader on my H. When I lower it slowly it chatters and jumps on the way down. If I push the lever forward hard it drops too fast. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks DTK.

There is likely some air in the top of the cylinder that acts like a rubber ball, compressing & releasing.
Support the loader so each cylinder can be removed one at a time. Extend the removed cylinder and then place the rod end so it is LOWER than the hose end; push the control lever all the way forward to allow the air-oil to enter the pump reservoir as you completely compress the cylinder rod back into the cylinder. Do this a couple times and re-attach the first cylinder; repeat for the opposite side and you should be good to go.

There is a thing you can insert into a single action line that will slow down the down rate. I don't know who sells them or if anyone sells them today. I have one for my mowing machine. What you are describing is normal for the old lift all's - they only lift or allow the implement to drop.

It's called a retarder valve, you can use this or simply place an orifice in the line going back to the reservoir to reduce the flow of oil.
For example If you have a 1/2 inch fitting plumbed into the reservoir use a fitting that has a hole size of 3/8 or 1/4 orifice, keep going down in size until you have the reduced motion you desire.
The only drawback will be the lines plumbed from the cylinder(s) to the reservoir must be in top shape or they will blow out under the pressure of the reduced flow of the return line.
