Have spark, rebuilt carb but wont hit a lick. It has a old style Zenith carb on it which I do not like. How can I check carb to know if it is doing what it should, Any thing I should look for. Thanks

3 things an engine needs to run, spark, compression and fuel. You have spark and if tractor has been running we can assume compression. Have you removed spark plug wires, could they be switched. I would check fuel flow to carb. remove line at carb to see if there is a good flow of fuel there. If not work back toward the fuel tank to find stoppage.

Where you at in Missouri?? You say you have spark is it a good blue/white and will it jump a 1/4 inch gap or more??? Next pull the crab drain plug and let the fuel flow for a few minutes. Catch it to make sure it is not full of water and dirt etc. If both check out try pulling the air intake tube off the carb and hold your hand over the air intake and try starting it up. You should both feel a good suction there and also when you remove you hand have gas on it. Post back if it does not start after doing those things

Orange/yellow is a cool spark and could well be the problem. Clean the points and then make sure the spark will jump a 1/4 inch gap or more. By the way I live up at the Lake of the Ozarks Camdenton

give it a sniff of ether. if it hits, gas is problem, most likely. however, i have had water in gas and this would not work.

if it does not hit, it is electric.
