Fast hitch rusted solid

O.K. Anybody ever have the sway bar linkage get rusted solid on a fast hitch? I have soaked this thing for weeks now with various penetrants and am getting ready to take it to a shop to try and press it loose. It seems to let a little through but when I pound on it or pry when it is in a big vise all I do is move the bench. I tried to move it with it on the tractor but it bends the two plates but does not pivot. I hope I don't have to replace it because I may have to sell it because of moving.
This is the shaft and tube arrangement under the middle that keeps the draw bar from moving side to side. What should I try next? I thought about heating but my torch set is too small to do a good job. I ended up taking the whole thing back off the 560 because I didn't want to bend it up.

Are you sure it's rusted solid and not set in the non swinging mode. Try removing the bolts that attach the two bars to the part that attaches to the pipe on the tractor. Someone may have welded it solid.

yes they get tight. last year i had to heat that piece red hot with a big rosebud tip to get it loose and still had to beat it quite a bit with large hammer.

The cross-shaft under my 240U was not rusted, but eye bolt in the right arm was broken off. I was able with a center punch and penetrating oil to unscrew the stub and the eye was still there, so I had a cutoff bolt welded together to make a new one and got it back together. You could tell by the "dobbing" that the triangle plate had been welded on a new shaft. It certainly wasn't an IH weld job, but at least I had all the pieces. Since it had been replaced, maybe it was rusted solid at some time. Sure makes a difference when using a rear blade to have the swing locked.

Thanks for the replies. I am trying to find a shop that is open when I can get it to them to heat this thing up. My torch set is too small, and I don"t feel like struggling too hard on this when it might not get used here in a long time and I am too busy with work and online classes until May 15. I took a pic of it but can"t seem to get it transferred from my camera phone. If/when it comes through I"ll post a pic of it. Back to home work now.

I had same issue on my 450 when i bought it. Took it to a local spring shop
That had a large press and for a box iof donuts and coffee it was freed up. :)

Now there is an idea that is thinking a little out of the box that just might work. I wonder how long it would take to get it hot enough, this sounds like a all day cook out that I might need some hot dogs for eating while I wait, wife says steak:) I just might do it next week or so and let you know haw it turns out.

When I've done it took less than an hour to get a pretty substantial chunk of steel cherry red. You'll need something such as a piece of expanded metal for a grate. Coal would be better than charcoal (it'll go through charcoal pretty fast) but charcoal's easy to come by.
