SMTA with fast hitch

I am working on a SMTA that has a fast hitch from a 450 era tractor (based upon the hitch casting numbers). I have a Ford 961 that I use with the following 3 point pieces of equipment; JD Model 80 blade, Gearmore 6 ft disc, Ford 3 bottom plow and a JD flail mower. After reading numerous comments on this forum I assume there is not a good conversion to 3 point utilizing the fast hitch, is this correct? I assume, I need to be looking for a used Saginau or Worksaver 3 point. Any thoughts or direction to consider appreciated. The Ford is easy to use with the 3 point implements and my goal is to use
the SMTA in a similar fashion.

If the width of the 3pt tools attachment points are pretty uniform, a converter system can be used to quick attach 3pt equipment. Some of them have top links built in, some require a top link to be established. None of them will give a good acting traction control. But serviceable they can be. Jim

I use to have a set of 2-3 pt adapters that worked pretty good. They were a FH prong that had the 3pt sockets turned up to give extra lift, aproblem with many adapters. The sockets also had a pin that let them pivot out / in to help in hooking up or unhooking from the implement. The problem they used a top link & plate. On a SMTA there's no place the bolt the top link plate to the tractor unless you could make something for it to attach to.

I used them on a 806D w/FH. Prior to them I had one of the upside down U adapters. It didn't allow for accurate adjustment to the pitch of the implement front to back. Plus the 8 was too much tractor for it & I broke the hooks that clamped around the lower 3 pt pins on the implement several times.

I put a CAT II quick hitch on the prong type adapters. With it it was like having a factory 3 pt hitch. I use to have pics on them but deleted the pics last winter.

I got a set of FH arms that I was later told had come off a plow, I had to get one of the mounting holes drilled out bigger on each arm so that they would fit over the 3 point hitch pins on the implements. The arms sweep up quite a bit so the height is about right. I have used the arms with a bush hog and a PTO winch but so far not with any ground engaging implements. My set was under $100 on ebay and I have found that they are pretty handy.

Considering the implements you have listed, one of the up=side=down U converters will work just fine, however you will have to use the on board front to rear level adjustment to fine tune the level.

Welded a raise in this set of prongs that works good on the rotary cutter and a 3 point blade. Straight set works best on my finish mower. Only have fast hitch plow so never plowed with adapters. Made the top link bracket that bolts to the upper lift arms.

There's no perfect adapter, and some work better than others. It's a compromise.

The aftermarket 3pt is also a compromise.

I personally would not throw away a perfectly good fast hitch setup for an aftermarket 3pt hitch.
