didnt have a problem haveing juice to all cyl,s on this C, until after new parts in govoner and a nother used distribeter, and maybe shortin it with the dist cap clip on the resister, wich i replaced to day.ordered a rebuilt dist, and shaft too. but did notice a lite smoke and smell when shorting acured, but i was checking the points to see why i was haveing problems with 4 and 2 wasntnt getting juice. moveing the points lowb sideways, can be 1000,s differance in the points. confused. thanks...

If you have sideways movement in the distributor shaft more than .001", the distributor shaft bushing is worn. If it is the new distributor that you are moving sideways, it is not rebuilt correctly. If it is the old one, widening the point gap setting to .022" maybe even .025" may make it fire on all four. Jim

You cannot damage a coil except by physical injury, or running it on twice the voltage for 30 minutes. Neither of which apply. If it is running on two cylinders, and the ones that are dead are not getting spark, there are two issues that apply: If the distributor cam (four lobed shaft that the points rub on to open) is loose in its bearing as I described earlier, is one possible issue. A bad distributor cap with a crack or carbon track between wire towers 2 and 4 (and possibly contributed to with bad spark plug wires)is the other issue. All this assumes you have the wires on from front to back 1342, and around the cap in that rotation clockwise. Jim
yesall the timeing checks out 9even took the gonener off for the 4th time with fly wheel # 1piston up) new wires, cap even retryed old cap put another new resister. trying to bring back a tractor that almost dont even be good for parts,. but, my freind wants it done its been one thing leads to another. thanks jim. have a rebuilt dist comeing next tuesday with also dist shaft that will slide into the back side of the new govoner assembly. i need to get it out and done so i can bring back my A and SC. thanks going on 4 mo. should have been done a long time ago.
