Thanks for the replies. I am trying to find a shop that is open when I can get it to them to heat this thing up. My torch set is too small, and I don"t feel like struggling too hard on this when it might not get used here in a long time and I am too busy with work and online classes until May 15. I took a pic of it but can"t seem to get it transferred from my camera phone. If/when it comes through I"ll post a pic of it. Back to home work now.

> My torch set is too small...

Buy some charcoal and set up a temporary forge with cinder blocks and a window fan.

Now there is an idea that is thinking a little out of the box that just might work. I wonder how long it would take to get it hot enough, this sounds like a all day cook out that I might need some hot dogs for eating while I wait, wife says steak:-) I just might do it next week or so and let you know haw it turns out.

When I've done it took less than an hour to get a pretty substantial chunk of steel cherry red. You'll need something such as a piece of expanded metal for a grate. Coal would be better than charcoal (it'll go through charcoal pretty fast) but charcoal's easy to come by.
