Farmall 706 Hydraulic Filter

Hey guys, I have to change the hydraulic filter on a Farmall 706 but I have a few questions. Does the final drives have to be drained? the filter sits low in the rear end housing and I"m wondering if oil will pour out of it once I remove the filter cover. At this point I just want to change the filter and don"t want to have to replace all of the oil. I have a new gasket and would like to take the time to clean off the old one thoroughly without oil rushing past me. Thanks in advance for the replies.

You will only loose a gallon or so of oil.Set a 5 gal bucket under and pull the cover...Be careful the screen doesnt fall into the bucket! Not a big deal, just a PIA!Good luck, Steve
