What is the trick to pulling the stock governor off an M? I had it loose but couldn't get it out. The gear on it won't come through the hole to pull it out. I got so frustrated that I put it back on and adjusted it but I think I just need to swap it out. It is still doing some crazy things when it gets good and warm on the grinder/mixer.

The manual doesn't show any pics and makes it sound like a cake walk. If I saw what the hole in the engine looked like I could probably figure out where to position it so that it comes free.

No trick; just remove all the bolts, the governor tube to the carb and it just slides out. You may have to loosen & drop the carburetor down to get the governor tube off.

I jiggled on that sucker for 20 minutes. It would come out 1/2 inch but wouldn't go any farther. I could tell that I had the gear hanging up on the edge of the hole.

You sure all the bolts are out? For some reason I think there is one hidden.

Some of them do hang up on the gear. Never found one I could not get out but have had a few that were difficult.
