B275 pto shifter re-assembly

I'm having trouble getting the pto shifter back into place. I can't seem to get the male part to line up with the female part. The pto shifter came out of gear while bush hogging and it appears the shifter was knocked out the groove. I took the three bolts off holding the pto shifter and inspected the inside and everything looks clean. I can engage and disengage the pto with a screw driver which leads me to believe my problem was just the shifter coming out the groove. Any suggestions? Or instructions? It seems like a simple repair but I'm having no luck.

Hi Scott, make sure the pin on item #4 is not damaged so it will fit in the slot in the PTO collar.

Thanks for the response. That part is undamamed and
everything inside looks fine and the clip is in place on the
shaft. I think it's just a matter of lining it up perfectly into the
collar, which I haven't figured out. Should the pto be engaged
or free when I try to put the shifter back in? Also once I think I
have it in the groove, should I immediately put the three
screws on or try to slide it back and forth to see if it works?
Any help is appreciated and thanks for your time.

Hi Scott,
I can't really answer that as I have never had to replace a pin.
But I would imagine it would be easier to line up in either the engaged or disengaged position as the PTO lever stop will fit in the hole in the transmission case and the lever would not be under tension.
