I have two F 20s a 36 and a 39, both tractors have priming cups.a friend of mine grew up around one,his dad farmed with a 36 f 20. He insists that their tractor did not have priming cups. What gives we're they an option or what?

they were all born with them, but ive killed ALOT of pre 39 tractors and quite a few looked to have been taken off years ago. ive started tractors in the dead of winter before and have never needed them at all

A lot were done away with,If you ran gas they were not needed,They were mostly used when running on distillate or kerosene

I have seen several heads with a small pipe plug screwed into the head - this stops air leakage -- and a couple of small bolts with fender washers used to seal the hole in the valve cover.
