I was wondering if my farmall 450 diesel should have a throttle for when it runs on gas,I was recently at a friends and was looking at his ih 650 diesel and it appears to have a throttle on the gas side but mine doesn't, is that right or I'm I missing some parts?

Farmall 450 tractors didn't come with external idle adjustment. External adjustment carburetor could be installed on a 450 but the adjustment linkage to adjust from the seat needed to be fabricated. I had a 450D once with one of those carburetors installed.

On my 400 diesel, you have a fixed setting carb and just regulate it with the choke. I do realize that the 450 is somewhat different tho

I have both a 450-D and a 650-D. Neither has a throtle for the gas side. But the 650-D does have a knob that adjusts the mixture on the carb. I usually set mine to full rich when starting it and then turn it to full lean after it runs a 10 or 15 seconds. This is probably what you refered to as a throtle but it is not. The 450s don't have this adjustment. Al

there is no gas start diesel with a throttle. it is a preset speed with an air valve in the little carburetor. some later ones such as the 650 could have a mixture adjustment valve.
