We settled on the farm, probate court (long story if you don"t already know) and we now have access to some big equipment,856, 806, 1066"s. I was going to put a 3 point hitch on the M but now that I can use one of the big tractors (compaired to the M at least) can you use a back blade or does anyone use one on these big tractors? I need to grade the road on live on, do I just have to go with an extreme duty blade? im affraid that a heavy duty will buckle because of the hp...thanks guys, ~Anthony

I would use which ever has the cab
Just know your limitations using the blade with more HP.
If you start digging in with the M you will know it, not so much with a bigger tractor.

Just my opinion.

they make blades these tractors will handle, just have to pay for it.some have hydralic angle, tilt, etc.go to good dealer not farmhome store.

I have a blade for sale that is set up for high horse power tractors like you have or even bigger. The blade weighs just over a ton with hyd. cylinders to move blade from side to side and a tail wheel with a hyd. cylinder also.
It has removable side wings and can be used as a box blade or a regular blade.
Will try to post a pic. Can't do da pic thingy.

I find them to be more of a pain - you not only have to look back, but you have to look down with a big tractor. It seems like some of the bigger ones are harder to get your body turned sideways as well. We used a pull scraper with hydraulics on the 856. It cut a much bigger swath so you did less of it. Even dug a pond with that thing. If you go with something like that it is farther back like an implement so easier to turn and see.

I have a small light blade. My SM (and probably the SH as well) will shred it...But I have had it on the 1256 with no adverse results. You just have to be mindful and use a little common sence.....

That's it right there. Just because you have the horsepower doesn't mean you need to use it.

Go slow, idle the engine down. You don't need to put the tractor in 4L, wind it up to 2400RPM drop the blade and dump the clutch.

Use the open station tractor for this kind of work. Cab visibility sucks on those older tractors and you need to be able to see to grade a driveway.
