Farmall A mower

What mowers could be mounted on the rear of an A and were pto driven? My dad bought an 1941 A last weekend and he wants to mount the sickle mower back on it but we need to find the right manual for it. I live in Missouri, he's in Montana. No picture, sorry. He's 73 so texting a pic is not quit his speed, lol. The mower was on a pallet along with a plow.

I know this is a shot in the dark. Heck, I forgot to ask if it has a tail wheel or not. He said it is 6 foot. Was there a certain place numbers for the IH mowers were typically at? What questions do I need to ask him to figure this out?

It also has a pneumatic lift on it but it doesn't seem to work right. A manual for that? I looked on Binder Books but didn't see one for that. It does about kill the motor when pulled all the way out but nothing happens. Mounted on the side to lift a rear rockshaft. I've read a little bit about them but a manual is needed. Any info out there?

I have an A with a pneumatic liftall mower (belly mower). I have the original manual, says it is a #18 highway mower.
I'm also in Montana (about 40 miles from Billings).
If your's is a pneumatic lift mower let me know and maybe I can send some pictures from the manual.

The normal rear mount mower for a Farmall A was the A-16 mower. There were versions for the Framall B, H and M. It comes with its own mounts, one takes the draw-bar off. There is no trailing wheel.
The No 18 mower was a mid-mount highway mower for the Farmall and Industrial A
The No 25 mower, with trailing wheel, could also be draw-bar mounted on any of the Farmall tractors as well as the W-4, W-6 and W-9 series tractors

Sounds a lot like the sickle mower I have on my BA. But mine has the hand lift. I too live in Missouri the Lake of the Ozarks area

I'll find out later tonight if it has a trailing wheel or not. Does the A-16 have markings on the mower somewhere to ID it? I think the pneumatic lift was for the plow but don't know. He said there are lift arms with the mower to raise by hand and some type of coupler on the drawbar to hook it up. I'll quiz him more tonight and let you know. Wish I could get a picture of it. Old, do you have any pictures of yours handy?

Dad lives in St. Regis, MT. 33 miles from Idaho on I-90. I moved a LONG ways away from where I grew up, lol.

Never mind on the pnuematic lift-all information, I have it all in the owners manual and the parts catalog I have for my B. Just have to print it off and send it to Dad. Thanks.

Ok, I think Mr. Carr was the winner. I found manual photos on Ebay of the #16-A mower and from Dad's description that's what he has. No tail wheel and the X-brace mount instead of the drawbar. Hand lift. So I'll order the manual and send it to the old Man so he can have something else to puttz with!

Now I need to find a manual for mounting the plow. Thanks everyone!
