F 14 rear tractor tires

I have been working on an F 14 and the rear tires are shot. The rear tires are 9.00-40 and they are hard to find. I was wondering what other people are doing about this problem or if anyone had any good ideas. thanks

You may be able to buy them from Miller tire but they won't be cheap. My F14 had 36 in tires which appears to be common on the F14's I've seen. They are more available. The 40 inch tires look better in my opinion.

There is/was an outfit in California that was selling 50% used tires from vegatable tractors.Ithink they were chargeing $100 ea.good friend bought some, was VERY happy with them.Un fortunately I dont remember who/where.

Get someone to cut them out and weld in some 38" rims.

more than likely im guessing you have the cast centers with demountable rims??

if so you will look long and hard for a set of nice 40 inch rubber. you may have to bite the bullet and spend the money at Miller's for new rubber. they stock 9*40

other option would be find some 36 inch roundspokes, but then you will have to deal with a somewhat odd sized tire, although easier to find. Farmall C's Super C's, 200's and 230's ran 36 inch rubber on them

Chet, There is a pair of 9x40 used on EBay right now guy wants 600.00 To me they don't look worth that I offered 400.00 he said no! oldiron29

Cut-off spokes with 38 inch rims would give you a popular sized tire option today and peace of mind that something will likely be available in your chosen width for decades to come.

40 inch ag rear tires haven't been mass-produced for years and likely never will be mass-produced again. Wider 36 inch tires are becoming harder to find. Try Miller or Friedrich for new tires in specialty or short-run sizes. See Miller's website for a comparison of newer and older tire sizing.

38's should be sourcable locally. Firestone or Titan should have charts online to compare how differently sized mounted tires would stand up height-wise to what you have now.

Miller tire is the only place I know that has 40" tires. there may be others. One way to look at this is that you will never have to buy another pair, AND it will increase the value of the tractor if you ever should decide to sell it.

I just bought 6 20" 10 ply tires for my IHC KBS-5 truck. tires, tubes, and liners: $1,800 at Miller's.

Miller's ain't cheap, but by the time I added shipping for other places, it was about a wash.
