Farmall 826 Hub

Hello ! i have an 826 diesel and the left rear wheel keeps sliding
odd the axle no matter how much i tighten it,any idead what i can
do to stop this ? Thanks!

If the hub isn't broken...

Slip a shim made from roof flashing in between the hub and axle on the keyway side to give the wedges a better bite.

The wedges should be out toward the outside of the hub, not sucked into the middle. We had that problem with the 1066. The wedges would suck right in and the wheels would slide if you touched the brakes on a turn.

Didn't say if you have 'wedge-lock' or the U clamp wheels...Either way,you have some worn parts.Hopefully it is just the wedges.Try the sheet metal metal method. If that doesnt work, time to replace some parts. You said they were TIGHT and still move...You need to use a 3/4 drive and a 4ft cheater.....If not,the wheel will come loose/move.IH recomended around 400 ft-lbs torque on the wedge... Good luck.

Good advice with either type wheel. If wedge lock, which I doubt a new wedge may fix problem also. Thing to look at also is see if the rounded part of wheel is touching the axle. It should not as this prevents solid contact on the flats of the axle. A shim will solve that problem or some machining to the hub will also. M&W dual hubs were bad for that. Guy had two men on about and 8 foot bar, still walked. I showed him what to look for , he had them machined and just normal tightening kept them in place. Had several IH wheels with that same problem.
