ih 420 plow

I plowed a couple acres with my newly purchased 2x16, now that everything is shiny I see that both moldboards are cracking along the bottom.I guess I will weld them but am wondering are these plows obselete or can I get new ones at dealer? TIA

You most likely have Super Chief bottoms on a 420 plow. All parts are available from a Case IH dealer. Off brand parts are available at many farm stores.

If the back edge of the moldboard, where the dirt comes off, is sharp, it's wore out and needs to be replaced.

Super Chief moldboards are going to run you about $100 apiece for aftermarket ones. Some Tractor Supply stores stock them.

Yeah it's a lot of money but ya gotta pay if ya wanna play... Besides they'll last you the rest of your life and make the plow more valuable.
