M with blown motor

Called a guy about an M with a blown motor. He couldn't give me much detail on the engine but said it was "blown." Well anyway its for sale, has weights, a really nice 3 point hitch, and really good sheet metal. He said $1000 I know thats pretty high but I feel like i could get it running. Think I could find a donor motor? or just rebuild the one in it? Thanks for input.
 
It all depends on the tires. If the tires are really good or like new and the motor is salvageable you might make out okay. If the tires are poor I wouldn"t give $300 for it.

I'm good friends with Kevin and I will give him a call about that
motor. I am trying to figure out how much I will have to put into
this tractor before I decide. I'm from sw pa and have dealt with
Kevin a lot. Good guy.
 
You will not know about the motor untill you pull the head and pan then and only then will you know what it needs.
 
If the 3 point is nice that is worth a bit, if it is a hack job it is useful but does not add much value. Weights and sheet metal are nice, but they are not as important as tires and rims in terms of value in my opinion.
