986 no hydraulic

Windchill -33 this am, tractor outside, plugged in, tractor started good, buy no hydraulics at all, steering, brakes, fel, nothing works. I left it run for a couple of hours, on checking the hydraulic dipstick, the oil was circulating, but not to the selector valves, steering or brakes. Is this a frozen filter or more serious?
It worked a few days ago, but very slow...Thanks...Darald in Sk

If you have not tried this, put five gallons of additional Hytran in the reservoir. It hurts nothing, and can mask a bad intake Oring, or other air leak. Jim

Might have water/moisture trapped somewhere in the system that is not getting warm enough to melt and free up a valve.
I had a 656 that somehow had ice in the line near the steering wheel. Made one heck of a mess when the hose blew.

Still very cold and stormy today, so I didn't try anything, but the first warmer day, I will change the filter and add 20 litres of oil. Thanks for the help...Darald

When I troubleshoot a tractor that the hydraulics are not working. I check three main items after making sure it's full of oil. Powersteering is from front pump. Loader and 3 pt hitch is from rear pump. If neither works then check to see if the PTO works. If none of these work, you have a mechanical problem.
