So, I bought a W4 that was restored & sat in a barn for a long time.Got it home & it started right up. Today she was purring along, started cutting out, then died .No spark. It has a mag & I don't know a thing about magnitoes .Can't even spell it.Any suggestions? I did put in a set of plugs today, Thanks!!!

Before going too deep, clean and gap the points. I let a few tractors with magneto ignition sit for a few years, and they did not run or run correctly until I cleaned and gapped the points

Most of the time a W4 would have an H4 mag manufactured by International Harvester. By your description of running then cutting out with an eventual stall, I would be looking at the condenser and coil. An early indication for either one could be failure once it gets hot. If you’re unskilled with testing start by replacing the condenser as it’s much cheaper. If that doesn’t solve your problem try a coil.

I’ve rebuilt countless numbers of H4’s, they are quite simple. You also stated that you replaced your plugs. What brand? It’s been my experience that AC plugs work better than Champion in H4 mags.

If you don’t know what you’re doing or if in doubt, send it out.

I had magnetoes for a while, but my feet kept sticking to the tractor platform. Had to have them surgically removed and replaced with non-magnetic toes.

Thanks for being a good sport on the spelling thing.
