mkirsch 03-12-2013 12:30:29 64.80.110.75 Report to Moderator	I don't get the fascination with the spin-on filter. Really doesn't make much difference as far as spilling oil. You don't spill much with either because they drain back into the engine. For how often I change the oil in my tractors (once every 3-4 years because they don't get but a few hours a year), I can find much more productive uses for my $100. [Reply]   [No Email]

That was in the days of non-detergent oils, modern oils keep everything in suspension, so there's really no need to burn yourself unless you really like that kind of thing. :D :lol: Also agree can't see spending that kind of money on a spin-off filter its not a big deal to change the OEM filter. Every time I'd change oil in something I'd end up with a 2nd degree burn on my hand from the splash of hot oil you get when the drain plug comes out, or from trying to reach up around the hot exhaust pipe to get at the oil filter. I'll fire up the tractor and let it run for a minute or two to circulate the oil and stir up any crap, then I'll dump the oil. By the time I've got the drain plug out of the pan, the oil's drained out of the filter housing so I can work on that while the pan drains into a bucket.   [Reply]  [No Email]
