rebuilt 185 lowboy engine

Local shop has a rebuilt engine complete except dist.They rebuilt it was never picked up they want 1200.I need one is this a fair price.

I would buy it if it was rebuilt by a reputable shop. Sounds like a good deal.

Ask to see the repair bill, sounds about rite to me. Irebuilt a D 239 , new crank shaft, Pitons/sleeves brgs recon head injecors pump Fellow never came foud out he scraped tractor and did not want engine, was glad to get price of parts out of it.

around here, middle tn., you can buy the whole tractor for $1200.

I guess I should qualify that. It depends on what they consider a rebuild. If they ground the valves, honed the cylinders and reringed the old pistons its a few hundred dollars of work - with the engine delivered to them.

If they did a complete rebuild with new bearings throughout, pistons, valves, oil pump and they could have $1200 in it.

I agree. If it was a [u:5892199180]complete[/u:5892199180] rebuild they likely bored the cylinders oversize, also.

In my area that would be high, but in a lot of areas it is in line with the cost to do a complete overhaul on a C60. One thing to pay attention to is what you are going to use it for. If you want to put it in a cub, check that the crankshaft has a hole for the pilot bushing, some of the numbered lowboys did not.
