Farmall 706 Manifold Heat Riser?? The Tractor Vet - Anyone?

I have a late 67 farmall 706 with the 291 gas engine. I have a few maintenance items that I am wanting to do on it. I have read some of The Tractor Vet"s postings about the heat riser in the manifold. Mine was not working and I was able to get the manifold split without breaking any bolts. I need to order some new parts for the heat riser butterfly. Can anyone tell me how the shaft, buttefly and weight are indexed when they go back together? Do the butterfly and weight face the same way? Are they 90 degrees off? Should the weight be vertical or horizontal when the butterfly is closed? Also, does the slot in the end of the shaft (where the spring slides in) need to be indexed in a certain way to make it work properly? Thanks for any information.

Here's one of those cases where it may be better to wait for the parts to show up before you start driving yourself crazy with questions. Things will likely be obvious as to how it all goes back together once you have the parts in hand.

I found this set of instruction for the heat riser a number of years ago. I have no idea who made it, appears to have come with a kit for repairing the heat riser. I hope it helps.

I have installed a lot of heat risers but never saw any instructions come with the parts. That covers from 1958 to 2012. Follow those instructions as listed and you will be good to go.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply. The instruction sheet is great! This is the exact information that I was looking for. Thanks, again
