I've read this forum since 1998, probably on 90-95% of the days and I wasn't aware that non-detergent was the consensus. Use detergent and don't worry about it. You will find posts that say they put detergent in old tractors and the engine immediately started using oil. Chances are good it was on its last legs anyway. We used detergent oil in our tractors in the 50's so it's been around long enough that only the diehards currently use it.
