Hello,

I"ve been having problems with my C...
She"ll turn over, fire, then stall and after a minute or two the carb starts overflowing like mad... I"ve got a spark from my sparkplugs, timing from my magneto is also correct and my valve-clearance is also in order. Any ideas?

either dirt in the needle or you need a new new needle and seat is the float set to high. maybe the float is sticking.

Cleaned my carb about 5 times last night and replaced the needle by a brand new one.. I don't understand it... The carb is a new zenith, bought it about a year ago. I checked the needle's function by letting gas in it manually and gently operating the float.. The fuel stops running without actually pushing on the float. Still can't keep her running..

Its got to be the float or else the gas would not run out of the carb. Are you sure it isnt hanging up on th body someplace. When you have the carb off and turn it up side down a few times you should be able to hear the float moving. I will shake them back and forth before installing to make sure the float isnt hanging up on something.

Jep, checked for that aswell...
But I"ve been thinking, maybe the problem lies with my governor... Since my sparkplugs remain dry while my carb is overflowing. Normally when an engine is flooded the sparkplugs should be soaking wet right? What if my gas-valve is regulated normally while I crank the engine but once it fires up it closes the valve? Tomorrow I"m gonna try cranking the engine while operation the carb directly. Hope this will give me some results.. What do you think Gene?

The gov doesent have anything to do with gas running out of the carb. You have got to have a problem with the float as it and it only controls the gas flow to the carb. When you say gas runs out of the carb where does it run out the throat or the weep hole in the bottom.

Hey are you sure Celien hasnt got anything to do with the problem. You say the engine runs how fast is it running when it dies and how long does it run before it dies.It has to be a carb or gas flow problem with the carb leaking. Cause if it dies after starting and running its fuel.

I had this exact thing happens to me last summer on my C. After alot of head scratching, I was about ready to give up. After just staring at it a bit I realized that when I put the bowl back on the carb, it was hitting the float and not allowing the float to rise. I bent the float just a bit so that it was centered, put the bowl back on and no problems since. You might want to take a close look to see if this might be your issue.

I was thinking maybe there where 2 problems occuring at the same time.. It always had some seepage from the weep-hole whenever I flooded it or when I shut it down. I figured this was normal... I tried the linkage-thing I told you about earlier yesterday. I managed to keep her running like 10 seconds longer than just firing up. I"ll try to twitch the carb tomorrow like you said, that is if Celien will leave me alone long enough :p. There always seems to be more urgent bussiness with her 2 rabbits than with my 4 tractors, go figure? I"ll keep you posted!
