stuck hubs on 650

In an effort to put new seals in the rear axles of my 650 I am trying to remove the hubs from the axle shafts. I have put heavy reinforced tubing across the face of the hub and bolted where the weights go. I am using the 1" center bolt to push on the tube. This creates much force but to no avail. I have drilled a hole vertically through the cast into the splined shaft to accept penetrating oil. I have heated the hub with a rosebud torch. And of course the sledge has been involved. Any other ideas are welcome. Thanks!

if they ae stuck as you say then may need to remove complete axle and find a machine shop with huge press. that 1" bolt has little effect on some thing that size that is siezed.
myself i would use another tractor and chain and give it some jerks once hot. long as you know whats involved with the danger and safety of doing this.

I had a simular problem on a w6. Took some scrap metal and formed a wrap around the hub that was open on top. filled with charcole and let it bake. Through out the day I would take a sledgehammer and hit the hub on back side. Finally after it started to cool one time I hit the hub with the add presrue like you have describe it popped and broke loose. Hope this is helpful

Pull the PTO and remove the axle/hub assembly. Then put the whole thing in a press and press them off. I have read some pretty good horror stories about this project.

Hi

Those hubs can be tough to get off, I have a 30 ton puller that I have destroyed taking a 650 hub off. I also used a rosebub and sledge with some sucess, but I have broken a hub doing that. I have a friend that works on 9 series a lot and he pulls tha axles and hub together and takes them to a machine shop that has a 100 ton press to get them off. Even with that big press there has been difficulties. I have replaced my puller, that has worked on most of the hubs, but if I get another on the is tough to pull it will go where there is a big press. I guess it just depends on how bad they are stuck. Good Luck

Cheers
